To Our Valued Internet Customers, Brazos Internet is adding Google AppsTM suite of tools to your Internet service effective February 15, 2012. Google Apps is an online, Web-based package of Internet, messaging and word processing tools that include powerful email, calendar, instant messaging (IM/Chat), document management, and personal website services. Your online experience will be enhanced by increased email capacity and security. Google Apps allows you to work on documents together with friends and family with ease. Your email storage capacity will be increased to 7GB and your document and website combined storage capacity will be 1GB. Brazos Internet will also offer Google PostinTM Message Filtering, an enhanced spam and virus protection service, and Google’s standard spam and virus protection service. In order to implement these changes, Brazos Internet will need to move existing email and settings over to the new platform. This will take some time so we are asking that you not make any changes to your email account settings from 4:00PM Central time on Friday February 10, 2012 until the morning of Wednesday February 15, 2012. Any changes made to your email settings during this time — Contacts, Allowed Senders, folder structure, etc. — may not be saved, and access to some services like the MyAccount Control Panel will be blocked. You can however, continue to send and receive email as always during this time. For two weeks following the move, Brazos Internet will allow you to access your existing email using WebMail (and/or MyPlace) in the event that the email migration to Google is still in progress. All email should be available in Google Apps shortly following the migration. Access to GreyMail is also provided for two weeks following the migration to retrieve any email that was inadvertently quarantined as spam. WebMail or MyPlace contacts will automatically be migrated to Google Mail. MyPlace calendar events will be exported into an ical file and be emailed to users after the migration for importing to Google Calendar. MyPlace Chat Buddies should be captured manually and re-entered into Google Chat. Other MyPlace files like documents, music, photos, and videos will not be migrated to Google Apps and should be copied to other storage areas before the MyPlace interface is removed two weeks after the migration. You will receive one or more emails following the move to Google Apps, announcing that your account has been migrated. You can access Google Apps services at that time by clicking on the Google Apps link on the www.brazosnet.com home page. Provide your login username and password, and select Google Apps or the Postini Message Center to start enjoying Google Apps. We will implement an SSL proxy that will allow third party mail clients like Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc., to continue to work until you have an opportunity to update your mail client settings. Some smart phone clients may continue to work with Google Apps and some may not, depending upon how these phones are set up to access email. The SSL proxy cannot resolve this, so users having trouble accessing your email on smart phones should browse to: http://www.google.com/mobile for directions about adjusting settings or downloading an application to your smart phone to access Google Mail following the migration. Do not alter your mail client or smart phone settings prior to the migration. We hope that you enjoy using the Google Apps suite of collaboration tools. Sincerely, |
